About Petersen

Kevin is a proud Wisconsinite, born and raised in Waupaca. After graduating from Waupaca High School in 1983, he went on to earn a B.S.M.E. from the University of New Mexico in 1989. He served in the U.S. Navy submarine service from 1983 to 1994, including during the Persian Gulf War, and was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1994 to 2008. Representative Petersen is a co-owner of a family-run electronics corporation and is an active member of several organizations, including Life Member, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1037; Life Member, American Veterans (AmVets) Post 1887; Member, American Legion Post 161; Member, Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce; Former Member, Waupaca Area Fire and Rescue.  He served as Supervisor on the Dayton Town Board from 2001 to 2006 and has been serving in the Wisconsin State Assembly since 2006 where he currently holds the leadership position of Speaker Pro Tempore.
